Sternal plating
Our sternal plating systems include rigid fixation systems for use in the stabilization and fixation of fractures of the chest wall, to promote fusion following sternotomy and sternal reconstructive surgical procedures, to promote fusion.Studies have shown that rigid fixation when compared to wire closure, provide increased stability, greater strength, and reduced sternal separation. Patients treated with SternaLock® Blu experienced improved sternal healing and fewer sternal complications.
The SternaLock Blu System applies the proven principles of locking rigid fixation to sternal closure and offers a rigid fixation alternative for mid-line sternotomies as well as a variety of minimally invasive approaches including the mini-sternotomy and mini-thoracotomy.
The SternaLock Blu plates thinner and anatomical design help address the challenges associated with fixating a 90-degree sternal incision or rib osteotomy. The plates increase stability at the osteotomy site, while still allowing for minimally invasive access.
